 THE OPPORTUNITY

According to the World Resources Institute, more than a billion people currently live in water scarce regions, and as many as 3.5 billion could experience water scarcity by 2025. More than 5 billion people could suffer water shortages by 2050 due to climate change, increased demand, and polluted supplies, according to a UN report on the state of the world’s water.

With the increased scarcity and commodification of water over the generations, we have seen water transform into a product. From the sale of bottled water to Wall Street traders gambling on the future value of water, we believe that water conservation technologies are essential. In fact, it has been predicted by Ismail Serageldin, former advisor of UNESCO-supported World Water Scenarios, that:

“the wars of the twenty-first century will be fought over water.”
